Stephen E. Epler Hall
Portland, OR
The Birmingham Dorm, built in the early
1900's, was demolished to make way for the construction
of the 65,000 SF Stephen E. Epler Hall.
90% of the materials from the demolition were
either reused in the new construction or recycled
for other purposes. The hall is expected
to earn a Silver LEED® rating from the US
Green Building Council, due to its variety of
energy efficient design features, including a
water reclamation system expected to harvest 111,000
gallons of water per year. The facility
will house 155 students in 130 European-style
studios, as well as ground level offices, classrooms,
a bicycle storage room, and service areas.
Interface provided energy analysis, and full mechanical,
electrical, lighting, and low voltage design services
for the project. «
