Multnomah County East Health Building

The Multnomah County East building in Gresham is the first new facility in that portion of the county dedicated solely to public services and information access for seniors and the disabled. Built to PGE Earth Advantage® standards, the 88,000 SF building serves as a “one stop” center for health, aging, disability, and human services. As part of the project team for the building, Interface designed mechanical and electrical systems that provide comfort and convenience while saving energy and water. Several energy-saving design measures that exceeded code requirements were incorporated into the building to reduce operating costs. These measures include occupancy sensors that automatically shut off lights when a space is unoccupied, the latest high-efficient heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system design, and a plumbing system that features low-flow fixtures to save water. The HVAC system can be turned off and on in individual areas, allowing use of the building during off-hours for meetings and special events while saving energy. Interface’s electrical design took into consideration the varied needs of the building’s tenants, which range from exam rooms to kitchen facilities to office space for County staff. Interface designed electrical systems for power distribution, an emergency generator, lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm systems, emergency call systems and conveyance systems for a variety of low-voltage needs in the building, including telecommunications, security, door access and paging. Interface also provided city street lighting and landscape lighting.
