Chevron, Headquarters & Housing Complex
Lekki, Nigeria
This 50-acre complex accommodates a self-sufficient
compound of headquarters offices, laboratories,
housing and community facilities, supported
by maintenance and utility buildings including
water, power, and sewage treatment plants.
Interface’s mechanical and electrical
design responded to the local climate and culture,
as well as construction and logistical limitations.
The self-supporting complex was designed within
three distinct planning zones: office/food
service and related facilities, utility/warehousing,
and housing and associated functions.
Future expansion and housing density options
were considered during phased development stages
to allow for population growth to accommodate
up to 1,800 people in the first phase and 3,100
people over time. The 164,000 SF office
building has computer, communication and laboratory
facilities supporting development, engineering,
human resources and finance departments.
Support facilities for the Lekki complex include
communications, utilities, facilities management
and maintenance buildings. Structures
and roof forms blend with the office building,
respond to local climate and contribute to a
unified campus identity. A new bank replaced
an existing structure with a modern facility
utilizing computerized operations and high-tech
security tools. A three-story telecommunications
building was designed to provide telecommunication
and technology support for the campus.
A print shop/reproduction center is located
on the first floor, along with offices and conference
rooms.
