Auburn Housing Authority
Adaptive Reuse of JC Penney Building
Auburn, WA
This original two-story building, constructed
in 1921, contained approximately 8,000 SF of
space on the main floor. An addition of
approximately 27,500 SF was constructed in the
early 1950s. The project objective is to redevelop
the building into low income housing, maximizing
the number of one-bedroom and studio residential
apartments that can be incorporated into the
building, while retaining retail space on East
Main Street. Interface is providing mechanical
and electrical design for the building conversion.
